GENERAL
This work package contains the procedures for fabricating the manufactured items you are authorized to make.
WIRING MANUFACTURE
FABRICATION
1.
Cut a suitable length of wire from a spool of bulk wire.
NOTE
Be sure the wire you cut is the same gauge as the wire
you are replacing. Identify wire by using color-coded
tape, the same color as the wire you are replacing.
2.
Note what type and size of connector the old wire had and match it with the new wire.
3.
Measure the length of the old wire. When cutting the new wire, add 6 inches to this length.
NOTE
If splicing a wire, use heat shrink tubing over the spliced
area.
4.
Fasten the first connector splice to one end of the wire.
NOTE
Check new wire for continuity before installation.
5.
Install the wire, following the path of the old wire as much as possible.
6.
Fasten the wire in place with tape, nylon ties or shrink-wrap.
7.
If wire is spliced and heat shrink tubing is used, shrink tubing using a suitable heat source.
